Enemy Found is book eight of Fierce Girls at War.
“The aliens killed half my company including my commander at Southport. It’s time to pay them back in full.” (Captain Eva Zhang, CO, Tiger Company, 3rd Battalion, Colonial Rangers, New Hope Colony, China)
It’s been less than three weeks since the alien invasion of the New Hope Colony began and a week since the aliens were defeated at the Battle of McKinley Pass. Now, the aliens are building up their forces to attack Winter Haven.
The colony transport ship Marco Polo has begun its journey to the colony carrying over 5,000 passengers, including 2,200 colonial rangers, one of them is Rick Cassidy’s sister LT Bridget O’Brien. The starship Asia is unaware of the invasion, and they are less than two months away from arriving at the colony. Cassidy’s daughter Ciara has made a strong impression upon the rangers on the ship.
At Winter Haven Ranger, air and ground scouts are out searching for signs of the aliens heading north. The looming Battle of Winter Haven may be the end of the human presence on the eastern end of the Alpha continent.
In the mountain valley where the transport Cairo crashed on day one of the invasion, Rick Cassidy and Molly Pickford step up the training of the girls and teachers from the New Hope Academy. Rick finds that some of the girls have skills he hadn’t expected that might contribute to their survival in the future. Others are selected for their leadership abilities to be squad leaders.
Demon wolves up on the valley’s eastern rim are spotted watching Cairo’s survivors. The winter is less than two months away, and the wolves will come down once the river and lake freeze over.
Material to support the hundreds of volunteers being trained and the thousands of refugees who have fled to the West is in short supply, and Major Naomi MacCaffrey turns to some of her housemates for advice. The question of the hour is: What would Cassidy and Pickford do? The result will be a proposal to conduct a raid behind enemy lines.
